Alleluia! He is risen!

And Happy Easter to all! The long and restrained season of Lent is at an end and we can finally rejoice, make merry and shout "Alleluia" to our hearts' content!

I have just returned from an Easter retreat at which, contrary to the normal way of things, a record number of women were present. Every one of these was able to contribute to the weekend's proceedings, both within the liturgy and more generally. This proved to be a source of inspiration and a reminder of the central position of laywomen within the Church and the huge contribution they make, which is often underrated and, at times, entirely forgotten. This blog is intended to explore the role of Christian laywomen, to encourage discussion and debate, and to demonstrate the wide range of ways in which laywomen can and do serve the Church and her people. A fact which, at this time of rejoicing, we should undoubtedly celebrate!
